Kosho Kinpu Itagaki

Chief Priest of Eisho-ji

 

Trained at Daijo-ji Soto Zen Monastery in Kanagawa Prefecture under Roshi Suigan Yogo. Also trained at Hoon-ji Soto Zen Monastery in Iwate Prefecture under Roshi Zenko Amafuji. He received Dharma transmission from Reverend Dosho Saikawa. He was the resident priest in Kauai at the Soto Zen Temple Zenshui for 6 years before moving to Seattle in 2006. He founded the Bellevue Zen sitting group that meets at the Koei Kan Karate dojo in 2007. He also founded Eisho-ji with support from Roshi Donin Minamizawa and Reverend Taiten Kaneta in 2009. Roshi Donin Minamizawa is the spiritual founder of Eisho-ji.

Teaches Philosophy and Zen at Seattle University. He is quite erudite, and his teaching style highlights many contrasting points of view. He was ordained by Roshi Donin Minamizawa in Japan. He also practiced under Zenji Itahashi at Otanjo-ji.

 

Shudo Brian Schroeder

Assistant priest of Eisho-ji

 

Teaches Philosophy and Zen at the Rochester Institute of Technology. He is a very serious seeker of the way, and his Dharma talks are always passionate and inspiring. He was ordained by Roshi Kanata in Japan and also practiced under Zenji Itahashi at Otanjo-ji.
